A journey into AI-driven concept art, bringing a friendly little robot to life through Midjourney. The goal was to explore character consistency and emotional expression using generative AI. Meet Chip: a small, curious robot designed in a 3D animated style, moving from a static concept to a fully realized moving character. 01 / First Generation Four first-generation robot variations from Midjourney, with the prompt: a small, cute white robot with large expressive eyes, chibi-like proportions, soft rounded shapes, studio lighting, high detail, --ar 1:1 --v 6. 02 / The Chosen One Out of the initial variations, this robot design was selected as the foundation for Chip. A character and style reference image was used to bring rich textures, cinematic lighting and a Pixar-like warmth into the final look. Chip: the chosen design, a white robot with glowing orange eyes, shown next to the 3D animated style reference image. 03 / Chassis Variations Model A focused on a sleek, minimalist chassis with clean surfaces, while Model B introduced complex mechanical details on the shoulders and a more advanced cinematic environment. Model A and Model B side by side, generated with style and character references in Midjourney v7. 04 / Adding the Twist To give Chip a story, a festival theme was introduced. This took precise prompting to render a Mexican sombrero worn diagonally while keeping the character's original facial features. Four festival variations of Chip in different sombreros, with balloons and bunting in the background. 05 / Chip in Motion
